So Tarot cards, they get a bad name. Some groups feel that playing with Tarot cards is evil. Well history says a little different. Personally I believe that a lot of the things we believe in is shaped by our influences in life, parents, teachers, church etc. But what if they didn't do their homework?
I am a big believer in do your homework before you judge. I could write a book on Tarot Cards. Now they are associated these days by the occult, because these days the witches, occult, mystics etc., they use them. But where did Tarot come from?
Probably goes back even further, to the 14th century, likely originating with Mamluk game cards brought to Western Europe from Turkey. By the 1500s, the Italian aristocracy was enjoying a game known as “tarocchi appropriati,” in which players were dealt random cards and used thematic associations with these cards to write poetic verses about one another—somewhat like the popular childhood game “MASH.” These predictive cards were referred to as “sortes,” meaning destinies or lots.
The games the Italian's played with the tarot would be in comparison to modern day Bridge game. Rider- Waite cards are probably the most popular and recognized having been in publication since 1909.
In my book, Meridian Chronicles: Black Widow Curse & The Coven I have witches, both good and bad employ the use of the cards to help Meridian discover her fate.
I personally do not think that Tarot Cards are evil, anymore than I believe that a pentagram itself is evil. Now depending how a pentagram is placed, makes a distinction in if for good or evil. Someone who actually takes the time to discover the origins of something will have a far better understanding of the common belief system historically and its caveats then those who just listen to the last person the spoke to.
In my books, they maybe fictional, however I have taken a handful of beliefs from different cultures and wrapped it into a series that I have truly enjoyed writing. Anyone who knows me knows, I am not a critical person of others belief systems, lifestyles etc. I believe that every one deserves to each their own and should not be judged for personal choices. However I am a big critic to those who judge others for not believing they way they think someone should.
As long as someone isn't pushing their beliefs on others, and people stop judging others for the way the choose, I think this world would be a lot more peaceful. Maybe that is why I tend to be a loner. You won't find me in groups, you won't find me in crowds...willingly. I tend to march to the beat of my own drum. I encourage that to anyone and it is commendable to those who do...takes courage and that is a rare find in the world.
